brilliant interviews and a bit about NIKE supporting Paula's world record
It's that time of year again! The Cracker is on Sunday 11th December, we will have 2000+ runners to look after.
For those new to Weston AC, you need to be aware that no Weston AC runners enter the Cracker as we need as many helpers on the day as possible.
This year as in previous years we have jobs in the chip shop (handing out chips to runners), strippers (stripping off chips at the end of the race) bag ladies and men (handling all baggage left in the bag store), welcomers (pointing out where peple need to go), marshals for the whole route, sweepers, spot prize handlers, security, water station manners, course erectors and dismantlers ........
The list goes on, you can see how many people are needed. Last year we had about 130 helpers on the day.
This year we are also looking for 9 'Special People' for a special task!!!
If you are unable to help on the day, but are available to help at the stuffing party (Preparing the envelopes to go out to runners) then you would be be extremely welcome (11/11/11 6pm).
The Cracker is a massive day for the club and enormously rewarding for everyone taking part.
Please contact me to let me know if you are available and your preference (if any) for your task. I would also be grateful if you can tell me if you are unavailable, so that I can avoid hounding you!!
So please email, text, or phone me with your burning request whether it be Head Stripper, Drinker, Chipper or 'Special Person'or other. Lesley 07540 823017

To those fully paid up Members who are requesting the FREEBIE Jackets via email-------- NOTE- I want a CONTACT number please besides colour & size. I have no desire to fill my garage & house with uncollected garments.

***Membership Renewals***
I will shortly be providing Dave Jones with the current membership list for him to cross reference against those that wish to order the latest club free jackets, therefore this is your last chance to renew and be included.

Anyone meeting up at the Swan tomorrow morning?
Yes, the force is strong in that one. We shall watch his career with interest.
Friday 21 October 2011
I would like to add my thanks to Malcolms to everyone that helped with last nights prom. It makes it so much easier to manage things like the firewalk and safety fencing when we have enough help.
Can I also thank those runners and spectators that helped save the dog from being run over by the archway when it was scared by the fireworks and ran off the beach over the prom and onto marine parade.
Jim.
Well done to Sam Morteo for running his first SUB 30 Prom race! Fair play.
Well done to Sam for running his first sub 30 prom race!
Congratulations to all the runners who took part in the October Prom Race last night. Looks like we had a record number of competitors with over 280 across the finish line. Results will appear soon along with updated Sept results.
Once again many thanks to Jim and all those members and friends who gave up their time to make it a great race for everyone.
Thursday 20 October 2011
Message for Jim. Alison and I will be available to assist at the Prom Run tonight.

Victor. Comeback is still on the cards, the pint sized horse doctor has persuaded me to press the button and spend my cash ! Alas the Hairdresser story is all true - Having cleared my garage of some of my bicycles in order to fill the space with three motorbikes, I finally had to confront my personal demons and admit that I was wearing the leather for all the wrong reasons ! I will be returning to the mendips soon though - got to start the uphill training !
**** PRESIDENTS BREAKFAST RUN ****
THIS SATURDAY morning meet at Barton Camp, see Social page for location, at 9 am for a gentle run, lead by Paul Snelling, on the Mendips near Crookes Peak. This is a social run for all abilities the main focus is on a nice breakfast after a fresh morning run.
After the run there will be hot showers available and a hearty full English Breakfast about 11am. As usual, we will be joined by our cycling friends for breakfast.
So that we can order the right amount of food, can you please let me know if you are coming ASAP.
Thanks

Rach, Simon, Phil.
I am organising the outside personnel for the proms this year and Gerry the inside help.
Thanks for your offers to help which are most appreciated
Rach will you take the far end of the prom and run back with last finisher please.
Weather looks as though it should be OK
To PROM organiser (Malcolm?)
I'll be around to marshal tomorrow if you need me. Best, Phil
Apparently Rotund local bleadon based triathlete has shelved plans of comeback , i am led to believe from reliable source he has taken up hairdressing and has already purchased a hairdressers car. His wit will be missed on the mendips.
Tuesday 18 October 2011
Available to help with Prom Race
Happy to marshall the prom this Thursday if needed.

Hi Dave, We'll be along on Saturday with the three girls - one of us will run unless there is anyone free to look after the girls in which case we'll both run. Looking forward to it!
Presidents Breakfast------------This SATURDAY
no response as yet , is there anybody out there in cyber space or does Paul run on his own and consume 40 breakfast?
Simon, my Grandchildren are also taking part in the Aquathon on Sunday, so I'll see you there.
Sunday 16 October 2011
News is coming in that there has been universal success for all the Weston AC athletes competing today. Well done to all those involved from Cardiff through Oxfordshire to Amsterdam.
Ah. C'est la vie, mes amis.
There's dreadfull...isn't it...
Saturday 15 October 2011
Those of us who take our sport seriously feel grievously wounded by the flagrant injustice perpetrated today by the ref sending off the Welsh captain. The moral victory is Wales', and the World Cup is the poorer for their exit. It's not a matter of life and death....it's more important than that!
Welshmen may never yield ,but they also never make it to world cup finals . Unless they are running the line.
Dear Mr Morgan it was great to see your name on the message board last week (very amusing). However I fear that Victor will have enormous pleasure in updating you further. Best wishes Mr T.
Friday 14 October 2011
Cheers Jamie, forgot Abingdon good luck to all doing that too!
Well done Josh on another PB and 'break a leg' to all those at Abingdon and Amsterdam on Sunday.
Thursday 13 October 2011

What a great day out in the mud it was yesterday! My feet are a tad weary today but who cares? Well done to Bryan and all those cheery marshals, some from RNLI, who helped us on our merry way.
Sunday 09 October 2011
Kira, no probs, will drop down next time I'm in Weston. Long term loan perfect :)
And haven't you heard...Rich is making a come back (will have to be seen to be believed)
A big thank you to all the marshals and helpers involved in today's Mendip Muddle. Thanks to your help in staging this race we were able to donate 1500 to the RNLI, plus another 180 has been raised by donations via the Virgin Money Giving site by the runners themselves. We had a record entry and a record number of finishers. Well done all!
Well done Liz Wiggins!
Royal Parks Half Marathon 1:27:10 5th Lady overall, 108th position overall. 11480 finishers
Neale just wondering if you could do me a favour?
Due to work I've missed quite a bit of the Rugby World Cup and wonder if you can give me a bit of an update as to where England currently are and perhaps, if you have time, let me know how Wales are getting on.... thanks mate !!
Friday 07 October 2011
Jamie. Sorted for a lift tomorrow, but thanks anyway.
Tobias do you need a lift tomorrow for marking out the Muddle course? 07804 476203 if you do.
Kira
Can you give more info. Am in London on that weekend.
Thursday 06 October 2011
Started entering competitions last yr and have already won 4! not bad. Two entries for the Richmond 10K or 5K on sunday 22nd Oct. Trouble is i am not running (but i also won a Shock Absorber bra!) and also am not planning on being in London that w'end! Anybody interested get back to me.
Very very nice of you Phil to let me burrow your turbo - long term loan maybe??? - I cannot believe you are doing a rich Coleman - you are at your peak!!
Jamie, I'm aiming to be there. Earlier would be better for me, but 8.50 is manageable.
Thanks John H, Tobias's best marathon time now amended in championship points. Your London time was just fractionally faster than Jersey. Did you enjoy the undulations in Jersey? when I did it a few years ago it I had torrential rain throughout the race.
Whilst I would love nothing more than to sit with Victor for 80 minutes on Saturday morning and listen to bad jokes about the French (and probably the Welsh et al), I do feel that if anyone is interested I should really be running my popular Hill repeats session at Uphill. Is anyone interested? We could make it earlier if so required?
Wednesday 05 October 2011
Bryan it was the Jersey Marathon
And yes it was very hot
Kira you can have my turbo trainer...I've retired and definitely won't be using it over the winter!
Tuesday 04 October 2011
A message to those of you who did the Burnham Half. There is a "Christopher" listed in the results in position 98 but there's no surname. If anyone knows who this is please let me know so I can inlcude him in the WAC results. Is this you perhaps Mr Dachtler?
Here are the missing ffs !!
Big well done to John & Tobias especialy if it was as hot over there as it was here at the weekend.
Katie
will take your slog no,if still available,
Which marathon was this Tobias/John? Well done indeed!
Fantastic Marathon Results from the Hinchliffes
40Tobias Hinchliffe M 41 03:22:11
53 John Hinchliffe M 53 03:27:53
You must both be over the moon - congrats.
Kira, forget the exercise bikes; bottom brackets too wide, unnatural riding position and awful saddles. Ask around to see if anyone can lend you a turbo trainer to stick your ( or Nick's ) bike on.
Where do we leave the donations, anything for a bit of peace!
Looking at buying an exercise bike so i do not go stir crazy over the winter - ANy advice on what to buy much appreciated - Will be at Handicap next week
years of experience in Kev's task means he can always find the necessary items and orifices in the dark. Apparently he can do it with one hand tied behind his back (but it will slow him down a bit).
Wont it be a bit dark for Kev to do anything else by time hes finished..
Monday 03 October 2011
Kevin, hope you don't mind, I've added a task for you after you've completed the Muddle. Check out the "Muddle Volunteers & Tasks" document link on the Welcome Page.
Chris D, I believe you asked Tobias about my Slog number. It's still available if you want it, I'll enquire about getting the name changed.
No London places for Dad and I either! :O/
Sunday 02 October 2011
After a splash 'n' dash I was off. Lesson learned - always check the official race website for start times...
September's Prom Run Results still has timing errors due to a running number not having been officially recorded on the finishing sheets.
Once I can gather enough correct and incorrect times from around the relvant positions it will narrow down the time slot where this error may have occurred.
Therefore I could do with accurate times for Ruth White, Nicola Fulstow, Kevin Hudson, Gareth Weaver and Cheryl Valentine. Any help here would be appreciated, otherwise it may not be possible to correct the official results for everyone.
Please Email to mark_hill@bigfoot.com -
Thank you.
Due to the temp today being 38'c in the sun, I think everyone did well, & congratulations to Adrian M who get a time of 1:48 !
To Kira
Me and dad are going to man up and do the next handicap. Going by our last Prom times dad should be about 21.30 and me 22.40 (resisted the urge to add 30 seconds on!) Thanks.
Saturday 01 October 2011
Mr Dev good to see you still out there, Doin Oldbury this week then Abingdon but hope to be back soon.. and hope to get night runs started soon as well.
Ok Liz, no prob :0)
Katie, sorry but can't do that day. I'm sure someone else will want it though.
Friday 30 September 2011

Thursday 29 September 2011
Good for Age for me but they'll think there's been a mistake when they see Mr Blobby waddling by!
Rejection letter for me as well
whew, thats a relief me neither!
Liz, at least you have your good for age time for 2013.
