Can I congratulate the great Jim White on his performance last night & say what a privelege it was to run/stagger round with him. I could write a book, but to summarise;
Pre race preparation; 7 hours in a pub after a friends funeral.
Attire; Black suit, jacket only pinned together by race number. Trousers..see below.
Race distance 5 miles. Distance staggered by Jim, at least 6 miles.
Coins rattling in Jims pocket; 100(conservative estimate)
Times fell over sea wall; None...now we know why the council put those horrible railings up!
Front runners abused; 10+
Vomiting incidents; 2(but not until 3 and a half miles)
Fellow runners coming the other way bumped into; Incredibly NONE! all credit to anyone who had to take evasive action.
Brian Rix style trousers falling down escapsdes; 3
Falling flat on face; Hard to believe but NONE Think 1970's toy favourites the Weebles(they wobble but they wont fall down)
Point realised he probably wasnt going to win; About 4 miles

Congratulations and well done to the 200 runners who ignored the weather forecast and completed the 5 mile prom run last night. Conditions were wet but much better than we had expected and some PB's were achieved! Results will appear here soon.
Also a special thanks everyone who helped especially to all the marshals who were cold and very wet by the end of the evening. A number of runners asked me to pass on their thanks to you all.
Have a lovely Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all next year.

Hello runners and helpers, not only do I have a huge collection of santa hats, but also some fairly useful stuff that I would like to return to their owners, especially runners 1114 and 1115 who thoughtfully left their numbers pinned onto their soggy, sweaty kit. (Don't worry it has been laundered). Please contact me if you want your things back! If I don't hear by new year anything useful will go to a charity shop.

A MASSIVE thank you to everyone at the club (and in some cases, relatives & friends thereof) for their terrific support to yet another successful Cracker. I guess we were very fortunate given the weather later this afternoon in completing the event in the dry. I am aware of the effort put in by so many different people, but particularly members of the Cracker sub-committee. I know other members of the club would wish me to commend them for their vital contribution. On a personal level, I would particularly like to thank Malcolm Gammon for all that he does to reduce my workload as Race Director, but then again I guess we'd expect nothing less!
As ususal, the event passed off without any real difficulties although those of you who were at the presentation of awards will be aware of some difficulties with the results.
An absolutely fantastic day - thanks again!

Jamie, I think that honour may go to Tony Sperrin back in 2002? Not 100% and the race year was different in those days and as I understand it people used to run in plimsoles and rubbed sticks together to make fire.

Josh, the Wellington Monument is mainly on road with about 1 mile on muddy track/grass. Road shoes should suffice but I would go prepared with both in case the road is icy.

Results are up today. Looks like a few people went wrong or dropped down to marathon/gave up. The guy at the far check point told me he alone had to give 9 runners a lift back.

Freshen up after run ( bring wet-wipes/towel/change of clothes ) and off for a free breakfast at the Nook and Harbour ( about 11:30 )

We are running, more of an amble really, the 10k route of "The Cracker" at 0930 on Saturday 10 December. In keeping with the Cracker, fancy dress is the order of the day with a prize for the most impressive ( and it takes something to impress me ).

C'mon guys and girls, if WE can go sub-3.15, just think how fast some of you could go.....your London M qualifying time places await you!?

Another successful Prom Race last night with 261 runners across the finishing line. Our new race clock seemed to be well received with many runners and spectators able to see their times as they passed half way and as they raced across the line. Well done and thanks once again to all our members, friends and family who came to marshal and help in race HQ making the race a big success. It makes our job so much easier to have such great support.

Please could you check the list thoroughly as it is likely that your name may appear more than once. The list is divided into 3 columns: Before, During and After the race.

Just a quick reminder for all those who have volunteered to help with the Cracker Stuffing Party. It is this Friday at 6pm at Weston Hospicecare in Uphill (please shout if you need directions).
A full list of roles for the Cracker race day will be issued shortly. We still have quite a few spaces to fill.
If you havent volunteered yet, dont be shy, last year we had 130 volunteers and everyone had a role on the day. So far we have about 70, so lots of roles to fill. Please phone me, txt or email 07540 823017.
As I am long term injured, I am not down at the club as often so I am relying on technology! Although I am coming to Hutton Moor on Thursday before training to be available if anybody wants to see me.

The massive will be leading the first night run of this winter on Thurs 10th Nov. We'll be meeting at 6.45 at Sidcot Arms near Winscombe on the A38, for a swift 7pm start. All welcome to join us on an adventurous 6 mile off road run but please wear good off road shoes, wear a decent head torch and carry full body cover. Runners will be required to sign a disclaimer to show that you are taking part at your own risk.

For those new to Weston AC, you need to be aware that no Weston AC runners enter the Cracker as we need as many helpers on the day as possible.
This year as in previous years we have jobs in the chip shop (handing out chips to runners), strippers (stripping off chips at the end of the race) bag ladies and men (handling all baggage left in the bag store), welcomers (pointing out where peple need to go), marshals for the whole route,sweepers, spot prize handlers, security, water station manners, course erectors and dismantlers ........
The list goes on, you can see how many people are needed. Last year we had about 130 helpers on the day.
This year we are also looking for 9 'Special People' for a special task!!!
If you are unable to help on the day, but are available to help at the stuffing party (Preparing the envelopes to go out to runners) then you would be be extremely welcome (11/11/11 6pm).
The Cracker is a massive day for the club and enormously rewarding for everyone taking part.
Please contact me to let me know if you are available and your preference (if any) for your task. I would also be grateful if you can tell me if you are unavailable, so that I can avoid hounding you!!

I would like to add my thanks to Malcolms to everyone that helped with last nights prom. It makes it so much easier to manage things like the firewalk and safety fencing when we have enough help.
Can I also thank those runners and spectators that helped save the dog from being run over by the archway when it was scared by the fireworks and ran off the beach over the prom and onto marine parade.

Alas the Hairdresser story is all true - Having cleared my garage of some of my bicycles in order to fill the space with three motorbikes, I finally had to confront my personal demons and admit that I was wearing the leather for all the wrong reasons ! I will be returning to the mendips soon though - got to start the uphill training !

My son is 11 and his best friend Mary has been diagnosed with bone cancer, the future is bleak and uncertain for her.
Rhys decided he wanted to do something to show how much he cares,so he has organised an Aquathon!!( FUN swim/run/run (250m/2.5k/2.5k) in the form of 3 stages to allow teams to take part and to make it inclusive).

It's that time of year again! The Muddle has happened, its dark early and it's getting colder......it must be our turn to now hit this website for Cracker volunteers.
The Cracker is on Sunday 11th December, we will have 2000+ runners to look after.
For those new to Weston AC, you need to be aware that no Weston AC runners enter the Cracker as we need as many helpers on the day as possible.
This year as in previous years we have jobs in the chip shop (handing out chips to runners), strippers (stripping off chips at the end of the race) bag ladies and men (handling all baggage left in the bag store), welcomers (pointing out where peple need to go), marshals for the whole route,sweepers, spot prize handlers, security, water station manners, course erectors and dismantlers ........
The list goes on, you can see how many people are needed. Last year we had about 130 helpers on the day.
This year we are also looking for 9 'Special People' for a special task!!!
If you are unable to help on the day, but are available to help at the stuffing party (Preparing the envelopes to go out to runners) then you would be be extremely welcome (11/11/11 6pm).
The Cracker is a massive day for the club and enormously rewarding for everyone taking part.

A big thank you to all the marshals and helpers involved in today's Mendip Muddle. Thanks to your help in staging this race we were able to donate 1500 to the RNLI, plus another 180 has been raised by donations via the Virgin Money Giving site by the runners themselves. We had a record entry and a record number of finishers. Well done all!

Thanks John H, Tobias's best marathon time now amended in championship points. Your London time was just fractionally faster than Jersey. Did you enjoy the undulations in Jersey? when I did it a few years ago it I had torrential rain throughout the race.

September's Prom Run Results still has timing errors due to a running number not having been officially recorded on the finishing sheets.
Once I can gather enough correct and incorrect times from around the relvant positions it will narrow down the time slot where this error may have occurred.
Therefore I could do with accurate times for Ruth White, Nicola Fulstow, Kevin Hudson, Gareth Weaver and Cheryl Valentine. Any help here would be appreciated, otherwise it may not be possible to correct the official results for everyone.
