The public ballot entry system for the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon is now open. This ballot system will close at 17:00 on Friday 6 May 2016. The ballot will be open for five days to give everyone who would like to enter the event a fair chance to do so.
If you enter the ballot, you will find out at the start of October 2016 whether or not you have been successful.

In the hope that some of you might like to try some cunning running, I would like to draw your attention to an orienteering event being held at Mendip Snowsport Centre on Sunday 15th May. Courses range from a novice white course of 1.6km to a technically difficult blue course of 6.1km. For more information visit Bristol Orienteering Klub website or speak to me.

Really good turnout for the first 'summer' social run I hope that the leaders looked after you and you enjoyed the routes.
Next Thursday is the first of the TACH races(Town and Country Harriers)and the following Thursday (12/5) is the May and last of the series Prom races.
So the next social that Paul Snelling is planning is on the 19/5 probably from the Commodore in Kewstoke. Hopefully the weather may be a little warmer by then and we will try to organise a bit of food and cakes.

IMPORTANT INFO for anyone coming to tomorrow evening's (Thursday) first summer (?) social run from the Dolphin, Uphill.
We will be meeting at 6.55pm for a 7pm in the car park on the opposite side of the road from the Dolphin about 50 metres towards the boat yard. The pub car park is very small so please DO NOT PARK IN THE DOLPHIN CAR PARK but in the roadside village car park opposite, in the boat yard or on the road between the pub and the boat yard or towards the beach.
Remember there will be no led groups from Hutton Moor tomorrow night.

Hi Rachel.
Well done yesterday you were showing as Weston on the tracker so many of us followed your progress around the course even though we may not have seen you on TV.
Please remember (and everybody else) that if we do get club places for 2017 you must have entered the main ballot and been rejected by London (you will find out in Oct) to enter the WAC draw.
The ballot opens next Monday 2/5
Hi all
Just wanted to say that whilst it was a last minute entry, I also completed the London Marathon yesterday. It wasn't a good time as I had very little time to train prior to it and so managed it in 4:45. Hoping to get a place earlier next year (hopefully through WAC this time) so that I actually have time to train!
Well done everyone for your amazing efforts, it was an incredible day, so well organised and the support was better than any race I have ever done!!
Massive thanks to all those out supporting in London yesterday, sorry if i didn't spot you or respond, especially in the last 5 miles or so, i wasn't in the best of places!! So many amazing achievements, not just in London but across Europe, super proud WAC member here.
I may be wrong but a performance elsewhere may have been missed - there were a lot of posts yesterday - Chris McMillan's 3rd place, in a top quality field at Pensford 10km, shouldn't be overlooked.

It's taken a while but I have now finished the April handicap result and posted on the site with the May start times.
For one month only (to start with anyway)we are trialling individual start times from 30 minutes rather than 26.00 so please can you take the time to have a look at your new start time for the run on 3rd May which will be on the Morrisons summer route
Hi Steve,
Niki has written to EA about 2 other people that this has happened to. I will write to her about your note but could you send her a mail with full detail please
Steph and I, have resigned up for membership but are email is saying we are not existing members?
We want to keep are UKA numbers the same, it won't issue us new ones will it?
Good Luck to all fellow competitors for this weekend's London Marathon. I will look out for all the yellow perils out there, as I will be running for the Club.
My number is 21492 and I will be waiting for my family at 'W' for Weston at the finish from around 13:30pm all being well.
I do have a VirginMoneyGiving page for Weston Hospicecare under MarkaaHill if you wish to donate.

Yes John. Convention is, I put runners in finish order, and where a female runner is in top three, they get mention ahead - as Niki did at a race recently.
It's just the convention, and is absolutely not intended to diminish the efforts of any of our female runners. Like I'd do that!
The important thing is that people's achievements get mentioned and not what order they get mentioned in, so where the information is available at the time I write the reports (early Sunday evening pretty much every week) I will mention our top three men and women, age category winners, and course or distance PBs (where I can).
Championship races always get covered, and if it's a quiet week on the championship front, I'll pick up others, including triathlons.
Interested to hear views of female runners too on this.

Surely you put runners in finish order ?

A couple of people have mentioned issues with the online membership system however you are not giving us enough information to go on to help resolve the issue. A couple of pointers:
1 - Don't get confused between the password you use for the Weston AC site and the Regonline.ActiveEurope Online Membership system; they are separate and distinct systems.
2 - Select the "Start a new registration" option if you are getting password issues.
3 - If using a tablet/mobile phone try using a normal laptop or desktop device instead.
If you continue to get problems please email us using the link above.
Thank you to Malcolm, Jim and everyone who made Thursday night's prom run a great one. The encouragement on the way round definitely puts a spring in your step. One more to go!

Bristol 10K: Message for Lorraine Smith, Mike Smith and Ian Squires. You should each have received an email which will enable you to enter this race.
If you have not, please let me know asap. The token must be redeemed by Monday 2nd May. After that date it will be too late.
Thanks
Hi all,
Thanks for all the interest and I would confirm that I now have enough names for the first course.
If you are interested please will you continue to send me a note so that we can see the total demand for such a programme. We can then consider how we may be best able support your needs. Perhaps an additional course later in the summer tagetting the Langport 10K in August or perhaps changes to one of our usual Tuesday sessions and the introduction of a further Saturday session on the seafront.
Thanks for all the interest.
Jim

Position filled. Many thanks Sarah Wheatley.
Congratulations Phil t great result in florida.
Couldn't agree with you more Michael what a fantastic run from the well weathered Adrian Noble
Do we have anyone working in finance or good with figures that would be happy to volunteer to audit & sign off the annual club accounts? Please contact me on the email link below or via the contacts page. Many thanks xx
Just to let anyone that may be interested, that I did the Florida 70.3 half Ironman on Sunday in 5hrs 3min 52sec
Sunday 10 April 2016
Run of the year must be Adrian's 3:01:16 marathon. We rightly praise sub-3 efforts but using the WAVA age-grading tables this equates to a phenomenal 2:38:00. Fantastic.
