The final installment of night time frolics with the massive takes place this Thursday 6.45pm for 7 pm and the meet point is by the toilets under the bridge at Winscombe station (Strawberry line). Suggest parking in the car parks next to and behind The Woodborough pub.

The route is 6 ish miles long and will be open to all abilities. Drinks afterwards in The Woodborough of course! Don't forget your torches and hi-viz clothing.

On Tuesday 20th March the training session that night will be a mile test.

The session has been introduced due to some of our members wishing to test themselves over a measured mile. It also conveniently coincides with the Sport Relief Mile. Therefore, it would be really great if we could get as many members as possible taking part in the session. It will be good fun and for a good cause.

Members will be asked to pay a £1.00 to take part.

The meeting point that evening will be the Tropicana at 7:15pm for a nice gentle warm-up all together.

A reminder that the 5k Handicap will be held on Tuesday 6th March. Please see below a link to the Feb 2012 5k Handicap race results and an updated March 2012 Handicap times.

Whilst the 5K handicap is primarily a training aid to help you with your progress we wish to make the handicap system as fair as possible. We wish to give everybody the opportunity to be the first to cross the line if you have a good run.

Don't forget about the new rules used to establish your handicap time:

a) For everybody that has run at least 6 of the time trials in the last 12 months the average of your times in this period will be used.

Or

b) For all other runners your 5K PB (achieved in one of the time trials in the last 12 months) will be used.

The proposed handicap list will be reviewed by Ian Carpenter and in certain circumstances the handicap may be adjusted.

Please extend a warm welcome to James Wotton and Kirsty Watts who have just joined the club.

On Tuesday 20th and 27th March 2012 a new group will be launched lead by Sue White and Barry Hall. Initially, this group will be for existing members i.e. runners returning to training after an injury or enforced lay-off.
The object of this group is to encourage non-runners to become confident and comfortable enough to be part of a running club and therefore benefit a healthier life style.
In mid April 2012 this will be offered to new members who may not have previously considered joining a running club.
The first group get together will start at 7.00pm at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre meeting in the 1st floor bar area. It will be very relaxed and consist of assessing individual's needs followed by some light exercise.

The March 5K Club Handicap will take place on Tuesday 6th March due to the early March Prom Race.

The meet this week will be Marine Lake at 8:45am. It will be an L.T session of 2 x 2.5 miles. A session that will suit all club members, so why not give it a go.See you there.
