A reminder that the 5k handicap races take place on the FIRST Tuesday of each month from now on. The events calendar has been amended to reflect this. Please note that the information on the Handicap web page is out of date. We are waiting to gain admin access to this web page in order to update the details.

We are now half way through the year and the Club Championship is hotting up. The list of championship races has been updated and is complete apart from dates for the Portishead Multi-Terrain 10km and the Wellington Monument race. Club members are encouraged to check out the Club Championship web page for the latest information.

Also, a massive well done to Tobias Hinchliffe who completed the 100 mile Ultra Trail South West race on Friday - Saturday 22-23rd June. Tobias completed this race in 24h 37m 05s crossing the line in 8= place. Well done indeed!

Paul Dwyer and Phil Greedy completed the Classic Quarter 44 mile race from Lizard point to Lands End on Saturday 23rd June in 9h 59m 48s (67th) and 12h 43m 13s (134th) respectively.

Congratulations to the Weston AC participants of the Baslow Boot Bash on Saturday 9th June. This event is described as a "26 mile walk winds its way through the beautiful scenery of the Peak District National Park. The Baslow Bootbash raises funds for Baslow Choir, helping it to use professional singers and musicians to enhance its performances". It is suspected however that the below competitors may have broken out into a jog somewhere along the route. Well done all!

Weston Athletic Club welcomes anyone who is currently a non-runner but would like to become part of a local club.

You do not need to be a specific standard to join as you will be coached through the first stages very gradually until you are ready to take the next step. As you become more comfortable and confident you can progress to the next level, but this will only happen when you want it to.

The beginner’s group meets at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre, during the summer months, on the playing fields at the rear of the complex every Tuesday evening at 7.00pm.

If you have a Garmin GPS watch and use the Garmin Connect software to upload your runs to the internet you can share your courses with other members via email or other social media. Please click on the Garmin FAQ link below and select the "How do I share a course with others?" option under "Courses" for details as to how to do this. If you send an email with a link to your favourite run to the Webmaster he will post a link to the run on the website for the benefit of others.

Starting from next month (July) the club 5k Handicap is moving to the 1st Tuesday of each month. The new slot means that the handicap will not clash with other scheduled events and enable more members to take part!!
