Hi all, as we do not have another club night before the race I would appreciate an email (or any other method) of confirmation of peoples intention to come and marshal.

Most of the early jobs are covered by kind volunteers but we need at least another 10 people to marshal the course. Turn up not needed until 10:00am so please let me know if you are intending to or are able to come and help.

Come and join Tony Hogg on Thursday Dec 19th: Night Run - meet in the Square in Axbridge at 6.50pm for a prompt 7pm start.

The Axbridge Viking will guide you over hills and through mud for a festive 6 mile off road run.

All WAC members welcome - don't forget to bring a head torch and warm clothes.

Afterwards we will be going to the Crown Inn, St Mary's Street in Axbridge for pizza and chips! This will also host the The Great Weston Bake Off competition* between Neale 'Victor' Jarrett vs. Rachael 'Cheesecake' Vincent with judging lead by Pam 'Mary Berry' Withers.

* Weston Athletic Club cannot be held responsible for any after effects that occur after consuming anything from this contest. You have been warned.

Normal Tuesday training has been replaced this week by a festive run. Meet at Hutton Moor bar at 7pm for a mystery run lead by Jim Wotton. There are a couple of twists to a normal training run so join the festivities and wear something Christmassy, as well as the all important marathon draw. More details on social page Dave

The Cracker race will start at 11:00am prompt on the beach by the Grand Pier.

Please ensure you leave plenty of time to pick up your race chip from Race HQ at Weston College before going to the start line. Remember, no chip no time! You will need to present your race number to the very helpful race volunteers in order to obtain a corresponding chip.

Should you forget or lose your race number please report to the Information Desk on the ground floor of Weston College where a replacement number can be provided to you. The same applies if you have already agreed with the Race Secretary to pick up a race number on the day.

Please note that new entries on the day are strictly NOT allowed. There will be no exceptions.

If you have lost or not received an event information sheet you can download one using the link below.

Please allow 15 mins to get from Weston College to the start line.

When you have completed the race please ensure your chip is removed before leaving the beach. Weston AC will be charged for every chip that is not returned so in order to keep the race entry fees as low as possible and maximise the amount we can give to charity, please ensure you comply with this request.

The post race party starts at 12:00pm on the 2nd floor of Weston College where we also hope to commence the prize giving at 12.45pm (approximately).

It only remains to request that all runners enter into the spirit of the race and wear at least one piece of tinsel during the race. There will be fancy dress judging at 10.30am on the beach by the Grand Pier before the race so dust off those comedy Santa outfits and we very much look forward to seeing you all on Sunday.

As you can see we have had a fantastic response from club members and friends to support our Cracker race next Sunday. Lesley Cowell has done a superb job pulling together the list, working around volunteers availability and allocating roles to meet members requests wherever possible. We are expecting up to 2000 runners to run on the day, all of them are looking forward to having an enjoyable and rewarding race. Weston AC has a proven track record of providing well managed, professional races with encouraging happy marshals. We know we can deliver this once again after seeing the extensive list of capable volunteers.

So come along and enjoy the day, help make sure the runners have a great festive race. It will make you feel very good about being a member of Weston Athletic Club. We will be donating £4,500 to Weston Hospicecare on the day from race proceeds with further donations to local charities to follow. Every role is vital to the success of the race so if for any reason you are unable to make it on the day please let us know as soon as possible so we can make alternative arrangements to cover your position.

Don't forget that to recognise your support and efforts we have organised the "Not Cracker Run" fancy dress run on Saturday morning for all those members helping on race day who would like the experience of running the race route, details are on our welcome page.

The draft Cracker Volunteer List is now available using the link below. The list is split into: Before/During and After the race and most people have more than one task on the day, so please check carefully.

Please let me know if you are miraculously expected to be in 2 places at the same time, lol! This will of course be possible!!

I am still waiting for some key people to come back to me with answers, these are in red. Please could you red people shout me very soon.

I am also still looking for a few volunteer spaces to be filled. Please contact me if you are able to help or would like more information. I'm particularly looking for sat am van loaders and youngsters to sell tinsel (my 16 year old says people buy from cute kids and she's now declared herself too old!)
