Social Secretary

27/02/2015 10:19:56

As many of you will already know, Dave Cowell has decided to step down from his position of Social Secretary following his excellent performance in the role - undoubtedly going out on a high following last week's awards night.

So the club is now on the look out for one or more people to replace him. Following discussion by the club's committee it's been agreed that this role could be carried out by a small group of club members, with one of them taking overall responsibility and a place on the committee.

The role includes taking the lead on the arrangements for the summer social runs, the 'Not Cracker' fancy dress run and breakfast in December and the Annual Awards celebration evening.

There will be plenty of advice and support from the committee for whoever takes the role on.

If you'd like to find out more (either on your own, or with others) post below, post a message on the club message or contact Ian Carpenter.

Your Club needs you !! Message from Claudine Mercer.

05/02/2015 21:13:14

The search is on for our next Club Secretary.

After too many years to mention(!) I have decided to resign from my role as Club Secretary, due to other commitments.

What does the role entail I hear you ask?

In summary:
- Arranging and taking the minutes of the club's Committee meetings, including the Annual General Meeting (not overly onerous - approximately 4 meetings per year (inclusive of the AGM). Booking the respective venues.
- Preparation of documentation for the AGM (late April) - however, thankfully, it has been proposed that the AGM documentation will in future be emailed to club members (by the web-team), which saves a huge amount of (your) time stuffing 200+ envelopes.
- Receiving / dealing with post addressed to the club's P O Box (this is delivered to your home address - no requirement to collect from the Post Office).
- Dealing with emails sent to the club secretary email address: these mainly relate to upcoming races or information from England Athletics. Any correspondence which the committee should be informed of can simply be scanned and emailed to them.
- You will also be responsible for obtaining the club's London Marathon places (not a complicated task - so never fear!)

Anyone interested in taking on the role should contact our Club Chairman, Ian Carpenter via the email link below (and no, you don't need to send a selfie or upload a clip on YouTube as to why you think you should get the role!)
