Press Release - Weston conquer the Exmoor Beast

29/07/2015 09:02:49

Race folklore has it that the Seaview 17 is so called because the course offers 17 chances to see the sea along the route, or that there are 17 benches along the way tempting runners to rest their weary feet. In fact, it`s down to a map measurement error on the part of the race director seven years ago when the race started. The name stuck, and has caught out many a runner expecting 17 miles, but getting nearer 21...read more

2015 Championship Points

20/07/2015 13:04:05

Two races that took place very early in the year have since been moved to different categories. These races are the Riverbank Rollick (18th Jan) now in the cross country category (previously shown as long multi) and the Babcary (22nd Feb) now a misc road (previously short multi). This change has caused some scheduling issues for a number of runners and an agreement has been made at committee that the points for these races can count in either category. The points total will be what you achieved in the race whatever category you decide to nominate and you can only have the points counting once. In order that we can finalise these races can anybody who ran in ether of these races and wants their points for the Riverbank to count as a long multi or for the Babcary to count as short multi please send me a mail to let me know. Please can you let Jim Wotton know by 31/7/15 so that he can update the overall position with the correct scores.

Christmas Cracker 10k - 2015

03/07/2015 13:17:57

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR CLUB MEMBERS

The online entry goes live today for this year's Christmas Cracker 10k.

Just a reminder that as a club member your support is needed to help make the race a success, and as such club members are not normally allowed to run the race on race day. Instead, you get to run the race the day before in the 'Not Cracker' event with your fellow club members. Fancy dress is pretty much a given, and prizes are awarded for the best team and individual efforts.

You also get to enjoy a breakfast on the club afterwards as a thank you for helping out on race day. And you won't miss out on the race tshirt either. These are given out at club after the main event. So, keep your diaries clear for the Not Cracker on Sat 5 Dec and for helping out at the Weston AC - Christmas Cracker on Sun 6 Dec.

A note will be coming out to members in due course so we can assign race duties.

2015 Championship Update

01/07/2015 21:46:52

The remaining races that make up the 2015 championship have now been included on the championship page. The only races still to appear are the 4 prom runs Sept to Dec 2015 which will all count. The Grand Prix events have now been shown and the Dec prom run will be the Grand Prix race in the 5 miles category. Following previous suggestions and feedback the 3 remaining races in the 5K category will be the races at Burnham. One additional race has been added to the long multi category. This race is the Ash excellent eight (6th Sept) and has been added to assist people who were perhaps intending to enter the Sodbury Slog as their final long multi. (The Slog race filled extremely early this year)

Finally 2 races that took place very early in the year have since been moved to different categories. These races are the Riverbank Rollick (18th Jan) now in the cross country category (previously shown as long multi) and the Babcary (22nd Feb) now a misc road (previously short multi).
