A seafront hosting a world-renowned art show presented an additional challenge last week for the organisers of Weston Athletic Club’s prom run, but one that they rose to admirably. Congratulations to all the participants of the first of this season's 1 Mile Prom Run of the Series 2015-2016 on Thursday 24th September. A link to the final results is below. If you have any queries with the results then please use the email link below and we will investigate your issue.

The first six runners all came in under 6 mins for the mile, with Jaylan Bacon just missing out on a sub 5min mile and a close finish for 2nd and 3rd. That is some achievement and getting better each race. Well Done to all!

Welcome to the Promster 2015-16 First Timers.
Welcome back to the hard core Promsters for this new season and new route.
Hope you all had a good first 5 Mile Prom Race of the season this Dismaland Thursday 24th September.

A close finish for the first 3 men with Weston AC runner Chris McMillan just edging out the Clevedon Runners, and corrected first Lady home Jodie Withyman in 49th place overall.

The next run in the series will be 23rd October 2015.

Congratulations to the WAC Team in the Uphill to Wells relay; a thirty mile relay race along the West Mendip Way. On a hot and humid day the WAC Team won the race outright with the third fastest time ever for the course.

The weekend got off to a fantastic start for Weston Athletic Club with the club’s very own action man Guy Bradford taking first place at the 5km Burnham and Highbridge parkrun in a time of 18:35.

Saturday also saw Matt Wheeler, Andy Chadburn, Tony Hogg, Chris McMillan, Wilf Huxtable and Darren Stacey form a team to take on the Uphill to Wells relay, six legs following a 29 mile route along the West Mendip Way climbing a total of 3259 feet. Due to the restrictions faced with Dismaland, Thursdays race will be on a changed course, please allow extra time for parking as the seafront is currently very busy! Race HQ at The Bay Cafe attached to the Tropicana will be open from 6.15pm for entries & number collection.

Congratulations to all the WAC participants of the Bristol Half Marathon this Sunday 13th September. Keiron Summers was our first WAC runner home with an impressive 57th place overall, and Cheryl Valentine as our first WAC lady in 1264th place. There were an impressive 33 men and 29 ladies ran for WAC in the race. Well done to all the finishers (you included Claire Woolley - Well Done coming in well under 3 hrs and 7095th out of a total 7215)

Well done to everyone who took part in the September club handicap race on Tuesday 1 September. First home was Noel Flynn followed by Geraldine Hope and then Carl Williams. The fastest time on the night was achieved by Chris McMillan with a rapid 16:19; followed by Kieron Summers (17:07) and Darren Stacey (17:50). The full results can be seen here

Congratulations to James Wotton who ran in the Long Run in the Meadow near Taunton on 5/6 September 2015. This was a 24 hour ultra marathon and James finished second overall running an incredible 62 laps covering 102.92 miles! The full results are available via the link below. With the need to get more families engaged in physical activity North Somerset Council are pushing ahead with the planning of a junior parkrun in Weston-Super-Mare. It will be taking place at Drove Road every Sunday at 9am and is open to all children between the ages of 4-14yrs (mums or dads or both are asked to run with small children). A date has not been set for the first run as they are currently busy planning the event with the support of Weston College students.

If there are any WAC club members who are interested in getting involved with the initial planning of the event then please get in touch with Kira Thorpe who is running with this for North Somerset council. I am sure that once the event gets underway many of you will be only too happy to help out every now and then to make the event a success.
