Worlebury Woods Challenge (WAC members only)

12/10/2016 19:28:44

This year's Worlebury Woods Challenge takes place this Sunday (16 October) at 9:30 am. No payment needed, just turn up at 9:00 am to register at the water tower in the woods.

I do need a couple of marshals so if you can help out please let me know.

I have designed the route so it passes the same point a few times, so more interesting for any family/friends you get to come along. The race will start in the centre of the woods on the top of Worlebury hill by the water tower and radio masts. The best place to park is where Worlebury Hill Rd enters the woods or alongside the woods on Worlebury hill Rd. You can also park along the track that leads to the water tower, although please be considerate of local residents and other users of the woods. The water tower is about 400 metres along the main track.

There will be 4 individual categories - trophy and prize senior male/female V45 male/female and will take place immediately after the final runner has finished. There are no toilets some please come ready to run.

Spooky Halloween social night run and pasty party (Weston AC members only)

05/10/2016 20:55:26

Missed the pasty run this year? Fear not, it's on! But the 2016 version comes with a twist. We're running it in the dark. Join us for a spooky night run around the lanes and hills of Bleadon. An off-road run from Bleadon village hall car park followed by pasties and refreshments in the village hall.

PRIZES for the best Halloween fancy dress.

For your safety it is essential to also wear a high viz bib and a head torch (or carry a normal torch). The run starts at 7pm prompt.

If you're coming let us know so we can make sure we have enough pasties. Also comment if you'd prefer a veggie version so Malcolm's pasty team can cook enough.

October sees the best of Summers

02/10/2016 21:06:34

Burnham-on-Sea half marathon is always a favourite for Weston Athletic Club members thanks to its great relaxed organisation and fast flat route out around Brent Knoll, Lympsham and Berrow. This year’s event was one of the best, with barely a breeze and gin clear skies. Kieron Summers paced himself brilliantly around the course to execute yet another text book race. He finished second overall, just seven seconds behind the overall winner, but over two minutes ahead of the third placed finisher, in a new personal best time of 1.14.57...read more
