Would anyone be interested in a 2hr cycling session on the velodrome in Newport, the cost if we had 10 people would be approx £25 (after a club contribution). this includes bike hire and the services of a coach, you don`t have to have had any velodrome experience and you can wear cycling shoes or trainers, The coach will only let you do what is safe for you. The intention is to book a weekend afternoon or evening probably in April.
email Paul Snelling if interested.

Sunday morning saw 38 of Weston Athletic Club’s members travel to Chipping Sodbury to take on the infamous Sodbury Slog. The ten mile off-road race features a number of opportunities for runners to lose their trainers in mud of varying depth and degrees of stickiness. This year’s race did not disappoint, with plenty of cloying thick mud up to the knees, doing its best to drag runners to the ground... read more

It’s been a week of all round excellent performance for Weston Athletic Club members, with two races where they have been able to put all their efforts in training to the test. The fifth Weston half marathon on Sunday proved a popular choice, with 53 club members lining up on a very chilly prom to take on the 13.1 mile course. And for half of them, it was their fastest timed half marathon, which is particularly impressive considering the challenging northerly wind blowing along the prom all day. Perhaps the greatest performance improvement came from Sarah Hicks who knocked a massive 20 minutes off her previous best to finish in 1.56.21... read more

This Tuesday we will be holding a charity time–trial mile. We will meet as usual at the Trop/Sealife shelter and do an extended warm–up. Then take part in the time–trial before finishing with a warm–down and good stretch. It will be a pound to take part and the club has generously agreed to match what we raise on the night, so the more the merrier. Proceeds will go to Children in Need. It is also a chance to see how your winter training has progressed when we do it again in early spring. Hope to see lots of you on Tuesday. Many thanks JT.
