Press Release - The skies opened for the Bristol Half but it did nothing to dampen spirits

26/09/2016 10:49:29

After months of training the day finally arrived. It started wet, it dried up a little and then the heavens opened. The rain certainly did nothing to dampen the spirits...read more

Press Release - Weston AC smash course record on West Mendip Way

20/09/2016 06:24:25

Saturday’s fine weather provided near-perfect race conditions for the Weston Athletic Club relay teams taking on the annual Uphill to Wells relay. The 30 mile route follows the West Mendip Way, and is divided up into six legs of between three and seven miles. The club fielded two teams, keen to do battle with the steep climbs and descents of the Mendips.

The first team was made up of six of the club’s strongest runners: Chris McMillan, Guy Bradford, Kieron Summers, Darren Stacey, Adrian Noble and Matt Wheeler. They had prepared well for the event, each making sure they’d recced the route in advance to give them added confidence on the day. Their careful preparation paid-off, with each of them running a perfectly executed leg to arrive at Cathedral Green in Wells in 3.21.02. This faultless display of team work earned them first place in the open team category, and they chopped a Mendip massive 10 minutes off the previous course record...read more

On Sunday 18 September I shall be running 16 miles of the Purbeck Marathon in memory of my Mum who passed away suddenly after it was discovered that she had Multiple Myeloma (cancer of the bone marrow) which had been undiagnosed.

At the same time I am raising funds for CancerActive the UK's largest integrated Cancer charity whose mission is to inform the public of Everything they need to know to help them beat cancer and to provide information to help prevent contracting cancer (the integrated approach).

If anyone would like to know more about the charity and it's work or would like to support my efforts in the Purbeck Marathon '16', I shall be posting a sponsorship form on the WAC noticeboard at Hutton Moor. Or if anyone wishes to contact me my phone number is 01934 419136 and my email address is gatzk180@aol.com.
