Online entry to the Hangover 10k is now closed; but you can still enter on the day for £10 (£12 for unattached runners).

We still need marshals for the Hangover 10k on New Years Day. If you can spare a couple of hours to help out from 9:00 could you let Martin know. Also we need cake bakers! Cakes are needed to sell to the runners after the race; all proceeds going to Barton Camp. So get baking and drop Martin a line.

2017 Christmas Cracker Volunteer Allocations

15/12/2017 20:46:17

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to assist with this yeas Christmas Cracker – your help is much appreciated.

This is the final allocation document which is being printed for team/marshal leaders.

Please could you look at the attached document and do the following:

  • Find your name and be aware of what your duties are – some people have more than one duty to undertake.
  • Be aware of the meeting points and times of each duty.
  • Be aware of who you need to report to for each duty.

When you report to your team/marshal leader you will be briefed about your duty.

Think about the duty you have been allocated to undertake and then dress appropriately on the day with regards to weather i.e. those with outside duties need to consider dressing for cold/windy/wet Weston weather, you can get very cold stood about – think about foot wear as well, especially those of you on the beach!! Clap and cheer the runners on, this will help keep you warm and they will appreciate it!!

Some of you may be working with volunteers from Weston Lions Club and Weston Hospice. Please make them feel welcome.

Finally, we all must be mindful of not only our own welfare but that of the runners and spectators. Unfortunately, we live in times when there are those who may wish to cause us harm, so we ask that you remain vigilant and if there is anything that arouses your suspicions please contact your team leader, Kim or Annette immediately.

We look forward to seeing you all on the day.

Kim and Annette

December Prom

05/12/2017 08:42:24

Following last months prom race which was found to be slightly short of 5 miles due to an incorrectly positioned turn cone we have decided to make the following offer: Any athlete who had entered, paid and run for just the month of November will be invited to compete in our December race free of charge. To take up this offer they will need to enter at race HQ on the night by completing an entry form and handing it into a member of our registration desk team. This offer is not available for on line entries. On behalf of Weston AC can I offer my apologies for the mistake made and ensure all runners that we have taken steps to avoid this happening again.

Please also note that due to the increased popularity of Icescape and challenge of managing members of the public crossing the race route we have decided to use the alternative 3 lap course for the December race which will avoid passing the front of the Tropicana. This alternative route was measured and ratified by ARC in August 2015.

If you would like to contact me regarding this or any matter please email me using the link on our contacts page

The Dirty Dozen versus the Full Monty Cute

Twelve runners from Weston Athletic Club braved the mud on Sunday to take on the ten miles and ten hills of the Full Monty Cute race organised by Crewkerne Running Club. The route begins and ends on the top of Ham Hill, and during the race this year runners encountered more than their fair share of cloying and slippery mud to sap their energy before tackling hill after hill. After just over 1,500 feet of climb, and looking decidedly muckier than when they began, the dirty dozen eventually climbed their way back to the top of Ham Hill to cross the finish line... Dear Weston AC members

It is with enormous sadness that I bring you news that our dear friend and long-standing club member Pete Telford passed away at home this morning surrounded by his family. It was Pete’s wish that he spend his final days at home, and thanks to the care given to him by his wife Sue and two daughters, this wish was able to be honoured.

Pete will be remembered fondly by all who met him, and his support and encouragement for the club’s triathletes has been tremendous over the years. How happy he was to see daughter Sarah recently complete her first triathlon.

Pete’s family are, I’m sure, in all our thoughts at this difficult time.
