Weston runners reach their peaks
Weston Athletic Club’s members have been out in force over the past week, taking part in a range of challenges to test their autumn training programmes. First up was the club’s own prom run last Thursday evening. The cool, calm evening provided ideal racing conditions for the 312 runners who took on the five mile course. Chris McMillan continued his great run of form to win the race in 26.50. Kieron Summers was the second club member home in 28.06 and fourth place overall. Ian Connock took third club spot in 28.29... Well Done to all the participants of this second 1 Mile Prom Run of the Series 2018-19 on Thursday 25th Oct 2018.
All top 10 finishers completed in under 6 minutes. Excellent achievement in times for all runners overall.

Staggering achievements for Weston runners
Climbing from sea level in Minehead to Dunkery Beacon, Somerset’s highest point, is not for the faint-hearted. But this didn’t put-off the 20 runners from Weston Athletic Club who took on the Exmoor Stagger race on Sunday. The route covers 16 miles with almost 3,500 feet of climb along the way. Weston Athletic Club members journeyed twice to Burnham last week for two club championship races close to home. Thursday evening saw the first in the series of 5k races organised by Burnham-on-Sea Pool. Sunday morning provided the ideal racing conditions for the 23 runners from Weston Athletic Club who travelled to Gloucestershire for the autumn Forest of Dean half marathon. The lightest of breezes, cool temperature and firm ground underfoot proved the perfect combination for the 13.1 mile off-road route around the Forest tracks. While there were no show-stopping hills to conquer, there were plenty of undulations to keep the 1,000 participants on their toes along the pretty course... Read more
