Weston AC nail the Knoll

It was a record turnout for Weston Athletic Club’s members at the Brent Knoll off-road race on Sunday, with 39 yellow-vested runners lining up to take on the six mile, hilly course to the top of the knoll and back. Making up almost a quarter of the field, it was a great opportunity for some healthy competition between club members in the final short off-road race of the year.

Conditions were good, if a little soggy underfoot in places. This set the pace fast from the start and enabled many of the club’s members to achieve their quickest times for the race... Read more

Cracker 2018 - Message from Annette and Kim

21/11/2018 20:51:45

Dear member,

The first draft Christmas Cracker Allocations is now ready for you to review – it is surname alphabetical order.

Many of you will have more than one job so please read the document carefully to fully understand where and what you have been allocated. The document lays out a title for a role – some are self explanatory, some not so and exact details of what is expected of you on the day will be explained to you by the person you report to.

We have tried very hard to accommodate everyone’s requests in terms of the tasks they have been allocated.

A few people are currently listed as “spare” – this is so we have options on the day if anyone is not able to attend at last minute I.e. due to illness.

A final allocation list will be posted Friday 7th December at the latest. PLEASE ENSURE YOU READ THE FINAL DOCUMENT AS THE ALLOCATIONS WILL BE WHERE YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO BE AT THE GIVEN TIMES.

If upon checking the list, your name does not appear when you expect it to then please email Kim and Annette via the following email address: kandarunning@gmail.com before Monday 3rd December 2018.

Yours in running, Annette and Kim.

Top results for Weston runners

Weston Athletic Club’s members had the pick of two championship races last week with five and ten mile distances available. The November five mile prom run on Weston’s seafront suited most runners, with 77 lining up to start the race. Conditions were cold and dry with a light wind, providing a good racing environment.

Imogen Moroney ran a superb race to be the first female runner home overall in 31.30. Her performance is believed to be the only time a Weston female has won the women’s race in the club’s history. Susan Duncan was third female overall in 31.53 and Michelle Fryer took third club spot in 34.46.... Read more

Weston remember the fallen

Every year, the Sodbury Slog race takes place on Remembrance Sunday, and every year it is preceded by a two minute silence. Always poignant, but never more so than this year marking the centenary of the signing of the Armistice. This year, a thousand runners assembled to pay their respects before taking on the gruelling 10 mile course across muddy fields, ditches and hills. The recent rainfall made the course particularly challenging, but the conditions underfoot were balanced out by the glorious blue skies above... Read more

Cracker 2018

12/11/2018 20:03:11

Listen-up Team Yellow. We need you. We need ALL of you.

Kim and Annette have been beavering away sorting out who will be doing what at this year’s Cracker.

The race takes place four weeks today, but we are 50 volunteers short - and our club is bigger than ever - with lots of people still needing to complete the volunteering survey.

So please, if you haven’t filled it in yet, please do it now.

Organising the race takes loads of pre-planning so it’s really helpful if we can allocate roles ASAP.

Thank you 🙏🏼🎅🏼
