Weston AC in pursuit of glory

Nineteen brave Weston Athletic Club members took on the Battle of Sedgemoor on Sunday, and all survived. The 10k race takes place on the Somerset Levels, and the reasonably flat road route is the perfect setting for those wanting to achieve a fast time. Sunday’s cooler, damper conditions were ideal for racing.

Fastest club member to complete the course was Susan Duncan who continues to improve. Susan finished the race in 39.18, third female overall and under a minute behind the overall female winner. Niki Fulstow was next club female with a new personal best time of 44.26, followed by Jo Coveney in 46.13. The women continued to impress with Pam Withers and Julie Shergold finishing second and third in their age category... Read more

Weston AC in pursuit of glory

The annual mob match 10k along the Avon Gorge towpath attracted a smaller field of runners from Weston Athletic Club this year with many choosing to rest ahead of the Seaview race a couple of days later. Niki Fulstow and Paul Cousins were the first female and male club runners to finish in times of 45.51 and 42.44 respectively. Second and third club male spots went to Rob Mountford and Joe Withers in 42.57 and 44.40. Jo Coveney was second club female in 48.26, followed by Vicki Wilkins in 52.24.

Sunday saw a race of a very different nature with 23 of Weston’s runners lining up in the rain for the start of the Seaview 17. The race covers 21 miles of hilly terrain from Countisbury near Lynton back along the coast path to Minehead. Kieron Summers ran an extremely strong race to finish less than 30 seconds behind the overall winner in an impressive 2.39.04. Matt Wheeler ran his quickest time for the course yet in 3.00.06, followed soon after by Josh Harris in 3.03.42. ... Read more

Sole Cycling - Triathlon Training Starts Tomorrow

06/08/2018 11:45:48

From Sole Cycling: We have our very own GB Triathlete on our coaching team and we’ve been looking at putting on Triathlon sessions for a while now to help share the love of this wicked sport.

So we’ve decided to add to our holiday sessions by putting on a 2 hour multi sport session every Tuesday morning from 10-12 at @Worle.

There will be no swimming, but there will be Triathlon specific bike and run session as well as technical training including transitions and what to pack in your kit bag, making basic repairs to your bike and more.

We will look at drills and technique and will finish each session with a mini race so you can get some of the thrill of a real Triathlon.

We are fully qualified Level 2 Triathlon coaches and we have all insurance, DBS and first aid certificates for you to see before each session.

If the sessions are well supported then we will set up a club in the new school year.

These sessions cost £10 for 2 hours.
There is a minimum age of 8 years old.
