Flat v hills for Weston AC

Weston Athletic Club’s members got to choose between flat tarmac or muddy hills last week with the Weston five mile prom run or the annual Brent Knoll race from Burnham on offer.

First up on Thursday was the prom race, and Weston’s 46 runners made up almost a fifth of the field. Damp and windy weather did not make racing conditions ideal, but Chris McMillan still managed a 26.06 finish, fourth overall. Kieron Summers followed in 27.54 and Chris Selman in 28.54.

Susan Duncan was the club’s fastest female and sixth overall with her 32.55 finish. Nia Davies followed in 35.26 with Michelle Fryer in hot pursuit finishing just two seconds later...Read more

WAC Christmas Cracker Volunteers

20/11/2019 09:04:07

Hi all WAC Christmas Cracker Volunteers – please find published the first draft of volunteer allocations. The document includes details relating to jobs you have been allocated to do (there may be one), start times for each job, reporting venue for each job and a contact person for each job. Please take careful note of ALL the details so youo go to the right places on the day on time.

If for any reason your name is not on the list when you think it should be then please email the following address: kandarunning@gmail.com ASAP with the relevant detail.

A final version of the allocations will be published at least 72 hours in advance of the event on Sunday 8th December, so please remember to check again as it is possible allocations may change for operational reasons.

Please remember this running event is taking place in December and weather conditions can be unpredictable. For those of you who are not allocated to work inside the college, then remember you will be outside for some considerable time – it gets cold standing marshalling a 2 hour event. PLEASE dress appropriately for the weather conditions on the day.

If any of you are bringing young family members with you then please also ensure they are too appropriately dressed for the conditions and the event taking place.

Best wishes Annette and Kim, Cracker race volunteer co-ordinators.

Junior Prom Race

11/11/2019 08:50:11

Following our decision to cancel the Junior 1 Mile Prom Race this year, we had many contacts from disappointed parents asking us if it could be reinstated. I am pleased to announce that following a complete review of our procedures we now have a process which we are happy meets all of the relevant authorities requirements. This was tested at last months Prom Race with a small number of juniors and with the excellent support of our club members it worked extremely well. So the Junior 1 Mile Prom Race has been reinstated and will be open for entries at our next race on the 21st November and all races thereafter. Parents & Guardians please note there are changes to the race times (see below) and additional safeguarding measures we have put into place especially for the under 11’s. Registration will close at 18.15 pm to allow sufficient time for us to prepare for the race, so please arrive in plenty of time.

Race start times

School Years up to 7 18.45pm

Christmas Cracker

08/11/2019 08:11:43

To all club members who still haven't signed up to help with the Christmas Cracker on 8 December; we still need some help! We need 30 more people to do it too, so please use the survey link below to volunteer.

The race raises thousands of pounds for Weston Hospice Care every year, but it can't happen without your help.

Thank you.
