10k PB

22/04/2019 22:21:57

Starting this weekend – Saturday 27th April, Jason Wyatt is going to be offering Sat am and Mon pm coaching sessions in the lead up to the Clevedon 10k for anyone who wants to better their time and focus on achieving a PB. As he wants to be able to offer a mix of led runs and intervals the time requirement is for people that are aiming to get somewhere between 45 and 55 minutes. Obviously, the numbers will be limited as the group can’t be too big, especially with the group runs. If you are interested in achieving a PB of between 45 and 55 minutes at Clevedon in June please send a message to Sheryl Selway who will add you to the message group. It will be on a first come first served basis so hurry.

Weston Athletic Club go the distance

Sunday saw 11 members from Weston Athletic Club make an early start for the long drive to Llanelli to take on the Great Welsh Marathon. Conditions were cool, but windier than would have been ideal, making for a tougher run in places.

Pete Clark-Yalland was first to finish for the club in 3.05.48 and 23rd overall, followed by Chris Shergold in 3.22.39 and Dan Potter in 3.27.37. The club’s first three female finishers proved that hard work in training definitely pays off. Julia Withers crossed the line in 4.12.14 and Lesley Bowskill and Julie Shergold finished in 4.14.16 and 4.14.17. Julie’s time was more than 15 minutes quicker than her target time to enable her to gain a ‘good for age’ place for next year’s London marathon and also qualify for Boston marathon. This was particularly impressive given that she was running with bruised ribs and battling a cold... Read more

Weston Athletic Club dominate at the super half

Weston Athletic Club were out in force on Sunday to take on the inaugural Weston Super Half Marathon. No sign of the snow that thwarted last year’s event, the runners were rewarded with bright sunshine and gentle breezes to help them along their way.

There were 60 yellow-vested runners from the club out on the course, making Weston the most represented club at the race. First to finish from Weston, and third overall, was Kieron Summers in 1.14.44 which would be an excellent time in any event, but even more impressive at peak marathon training time. Chris Selman was next from the club to finish in 1.23.10 followed by Toby Norman in 1.24.21, with both clocking new personal bests... Read more
