This years race will be on Sunday 13 October at 11:00
Entries are now open; you can enter online with full-on-sport. It is £13 up to 31 August and £14 afterwards.
The Mendip Muddle is a 20km multi-terrain race. The route is tough (there is 420m of climb), but very interesting, set in some of the finest scenery in the West Country. There are Roman lead mines, underground rivers, a nature reserve, open moorland, potholes, an ancient rabbit warren, an Iron Age fort, deciduous and conifer forest, and prehistoric tumuli.

Sunday was a successful day for the dozen Weston Athletic Club members heading over the bridge for the Newport marathon. Racing conditions were good for long distance with a cool temperature and only light winds, and eight of the club’s members achieved their best marathon times.
First to finish from the club was Darren Stacey in 2.54.19. Darren has been troubled by injury over the past year or more, but has worked hard to regain his fitness and was rewarded for all his efforts with the coveted sub-three hour time. Rob Furlong and Pete Clark-Yalland also finished inside three hours in 2.57.37 and 2.59.22 respectively. Matt Wheeler and Marc Whiting finished seconds apart in just over 3.10 and both joined the first three club finishers in qualifying for good for age entry for next year’s London Marathon. There could be quite a crowd of yellow vests in the capital next April if all the club’s qualifiers remember to enter... Read more

Capital gains for Weston Athletic Club
Weston Athletic Club members were rooting for 22 of their club mates who gained places for this year’s London Marathon on Sunday. Always the highlight of the running calendar, this year’s event did not disappoint with perfect racing conditions for the 40,000 participants.
Chris McMillan was taking part for the first time, not just in the London marathon, but in any marathon. Despite this, he could not have run a better-paced race, maintaining a consistent sub-six minute mile every step of the way. Chris was first from the club to finish, and 250th overall, in a spectacular time of 2.36.43. If he can achieve this at his debut, who knows what he’s capable of? Chris’s time places him third fastest Weston AC marathon runner ever, and the fastest for 20 years... Read more

Weston Athletic Club hop to it
Easter Monday’s Shapwick Bunny Hop gave 18 runners from Weston Athletic Club the perfect opportunity to burn-off the Easter eggs. The 7.5 mile course follows a mixed-terrain route from the village of Shapwick including a long, flat stretch through the Nature Reserve. This section in particular was hot and humid, adding to the challenge.
Darren Stacey was fastest for the club and finished in fourth place overall in 47.24. Matt Wheeler followed a minute later in fifth place overall and also won his age category with his 48.28 finish. Third club spot went to Katie Gormley who completed the race in 58.51 also bagging second place in her category... Read more
