Proving that size isn’t everything, two small, but perfectly formed teams turned out from Weston Athletic Club this week to take on two off-road challenges.
The Haselbury trail race is a club favourite, covering six challenging miles in beautiful South Somerset countryside. Chris McMillan took the spoils again this year, having won the race two years ago, finishing almost a minute ahead of his closest rival in 36.27. Matt Wheeler finished in 42.28, closely followed by Rob Furlong in 42.58.
Bex Vaughan was the only female club runner taking part this year, so scored maximum points with her excellent time of 55.07...Read more

With a name like the Seaview 17, you’d be forgiven for expecting a run of 17 miles, or possibly 17 kilometres, but in West Somerset they do things differently. Thursday night proved profitable at Purdown for Weston Athletic Club’s members with two top five finishes and six age category placings.
The race follows a 10km route around parkland and woodland in north Bristol with a few hills to contend with along the way. Darren Stacey was first back for the club, finishing fifth overall in 41.32. Matt Wheeler placed eighth, and second in his category with his time of 42.22. Stephen Powell followed a minute later in 43.32.
Michelle Fryer was fourth female overall in 48.45, followed by Katie Gormley in 51.33 and Clare Harvey in 53.12... Read more
