Does anyone know a good local physio who can check out a dodgy knee. (WSM)
Phil. I have few details on cornish, need to be there 9-10am for number, so leave weston at 7. I have your mobile, but probably see you and Rich at Prom.
I'm a Physio obviously, but am not free much, ie. Norwich with rugby sat and cornish marathon sun, mad I know. Anyway you can either see me for chat at prom or contact June Simmonds at Stafford Clinic, WSM.
Thank you to all of you who signed our wedding card and contributed towards the wedding gift - It was a lovely surprise and we had a lovely day.
In case anyone is interested I have obtained some entry forms for the Wellington Monument Race (19th Decemeber) and will put them on the Hutton Moor notice board this evening (Wednesday).
Physio - Try Dave Adler 0117 9145590.He's sorted Kit and Mark out many times. I've never had cause to use him - The benefits of never over exerting oneself !
** CHRISTMAS CURRY **Due to popular demand Curry night will follow the December prom run. Let me know if you want to come so I can give the Bengal a rough Idea of numbers. Open to all, not like the girlie nights or the selective Monday Nighters. Phil Book Early I know you love a curry!!

Tuesday 16 November 2004
Cheers Ivana, I'll tell Kit to make sure that his 5am start doesn't ruin his chances of being 1st WAC runner in this fantastically well organised event.
just the four of us,but we did our bit to entertain the crowds on the sea front,it was a bit like the parting of the red sea when graham came along,or perhaps they thought he was arnie from terminator, but a good six miles none the less.
Yep Rich still planning on going. Will probably leave 7am ish?? Can't actually remember where it is or how long it took last year - will check! Will probably be down at prom thurs, if not will email you before sun.

Not too much pud though!!Big thanks to kathleen for her loud cheering today, and a special thanks from preventing hypothermia from setting in after having hosed myself down with cold water only to realise I hadn't collected my kit bag (by which time there was a huge queue) she packed me off to the showers then pushed her way to the front of the queue to retrieve my bag.
i reckon gerry is a secret bog snorlking champion and she went under it not over it.
There is nothing like a trench full of brown cow poo smelling knee deep water to get you moving quick! Oh and the barbed wire fencing was helpfull (i don't think)!

Wednesday 10 November 2004
Thats sounds like a good weekend,i hope its well supported,by the way what is brown and white and comes steaming out of cowes backwards, yes you got it, the isle of white ferry. (the old ones are the best)
RE Shin Splints:- The best way to avoid them is to run as little as possible. On the odd occasion I do get out I try not to over exert myself. Hence I never get shin splints from running.
Does anyone want my place for the Sodbury Slog this Sunday? I've been advised not to run incase I make things worse. Doctors, what do they know? Anyway, if your interested you can mail me or phone 01934 516460.
I might not get my hair wet swimming due to my vidal sasoon contract but one thing i aint scared of is mud & pain.
Good point, well put. Your right, truth is I didn't want to get my week old Saucony's all dirty!! Now you Be sure to take a hood on Sunday to keep the rain off.No takers yet.
i dont know phil,no roast for you sunday,if thats a red hood who's going to be grandma.were not scared of the wolf either.
Tuesday 09 November 2004

Neale, Where were Team Handsome yesterday morning. RM Pitt can't run around the Mendips by himself, he'll get lost.
Sorry Mr Pitt i had an appointment with Rich Colemans hair stylist and to many Cinzano's saturday night.
Hi there, wandered if anyone could give me details on entry for cheddar half. Is it full, can i enter on the day? any answers call 07801 980233
No need to be offensive Neale. Its not fault I fell out of a tree as a child
Think I've got shin splints. What's the best course of action. Still run (lots of stretching before and after and take it easy) or have a while off ( really don't want to do this)? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks
I'll be up at the Swan, Rowberrow this coming Sunday - 8:30 start! Out on the mountain bike Sunday so missed the run. Did bump into Tony, Gerry and co who appeared to be enjoying a nice walk up the West Mendip Way!
Thats libelous!!!Or is it just a case that I run that slow, and easy mistake to make!
Shin Splints :Stretch well before running. Make sure you've got decent trainers which have plenty of miles left in them - fit new insoles if necessary. Don't spend too much time running on the roads, get off road and enjoy the countryside, you will vary your stride more. After every run get a ice pack or pack of frozen peas (wrapped in a cloth) out of the freezer and apply to shins for 10min or so.Cross train - introducing cycling and swimming will ensure that all muscle groups are stressed, not just the leg groups. Cross training also allows you to ease back on your running but maintain your fitness.
Liz, have you tried looking on www.runnersworld.co.uk they have quite a good section on shin splints in the injury section.Hope its not too bad.
there we are malcom, i said we could have a competition to see who's got the oldest bag of frozen peas in the freezer, shame on you gerry for walking!,i dont know the minute our back's turned.
Thanks for the advice. My trainers are 6 weeks old and I broke them in gently so they shouldn't be a problem. I swim, cycle and do various exercise classes as well as run so I guess I need to do the off road thing, cut back a little and buy lots of frozen peas!!. Roll on Sunday for a run on the Mendips.

Senior 'B':S.Jenkins(c), M.Dunstone, M.Freeman, T.Webb, M.Potter, B.MorleySurely the captain's role is to motivate his team mates. Good Luck to Rich for the forthcoming Dublin Marathon (Next Monday)
Well done to all who did the Endurancelife Challenge this weekend, a fifth of the entry was WAC! It was a cold, wet, muddy and very tough course. Shaun did us proud with 3rd Place, Ruth with fastest female runner and Team 'Skoda Clarks' were 1st relay team. It was great to have a crowd there and by the looks of the beginner mountain biking hopefully more next year. Many thanks to Sara for the brilliant photos (as if we won't be remembering it from the mud in our shoes forever) and with great thanks to Jim for training us every week to be kayak kings which meant I was never last off the water again!

Kathleen, Biking really is for total begineers. Three members of staff will be in attendance so no-one will get left behind nor taken over terrain total unsuitable for them. Be prepared to get muddy and have fun though !
Thanks Rich, See you there!
Friday 15 October 2004
Rich C, love the idea of trying out mountain biking, however is it really for novices??...I would hate to show up only to be left behind, as I'm a complete beginner.... but would love to give it a go!
I have seen one or two messages from people wanting entry forms for the Brent Knoll race (28/11) on this message board. Just to let you know that I will be sticking some copies on the Hutton Moor Leisure Centre notice board this afternoon.
Hi RogerSorry I was unable to collect my prize on Thursday but I was in London, please hold on to it for me.ThanksRob.

Over at Churchill Sports Centre we've started organising some novice rides up onto the Mendips if anyone is interested. The next one is this Sunday @ 9am. It does'nt cost anything and we've got a hose for cleaning bikes off afterwards, also showers and swimming pool (unfortunately not free !) We've got a harder ride which goes out on a Wednesday afternoon around 2pm.
Apologies, I should have stated that the rides are mountain bike rides !
No don't know who but like the sense of humour!
