I would just like to wish all of my friends and fellow club members a very happy, prosperous, successful, fast and injury free New Year. 2006 has been another great year for the club and I hope it can only go from strength to strength in 2007. Happy New Year.

It's with a happy heart that, on the last day year, I managed to battle against the wind and fulfilled the last remaining New Year’s resolution for 2006 and achieve a sub-45 10k and, in doing so clocked up my 18th PB for this year :)))Thanks to everyone at Weston AC, you have undoubtedly had some impact on me this year. Here's to 2007 and lets hope it’s equally as successful. Cheers

This is hard and bad news to break and I hope Neale and Gerry don’t mind me putting this on the message board but they are such good friends of mine and I know they will find it hard tomorrow telling people themselves but they have had, what must be, a particularly hard and emotional day as the love of their lives Max has passed away. He was loved and adored not only by them but so many members of the club who loved seeing his stocky (athletic) build and his happy face at the many club runs and social events that he attended. He was ,without, a doubt, a much loved handsome beast…he will be missed…

Hi, we've been away all summer and have also moved house! back to running now and will both be at the prom on Thurs. If anyone is injured/spectating then could you guard a pram for approx 33 mins? One of us will always drop out if any problems as we pass up and down (especially if not doing very well!). Otherwise T & I will flip a coin to decide who gets to run. Thanks, Gerry

Claudine

Posted : 13:42
Teresa what are you like?! You actually have a legitimate reason to avoid doing the prom runs and you still insist on running them. (Come to think of it you had an even better excuse not to run them last year, but that didn't stop you competing ... even at 8/9 months pregnant).Suggestion: Leave pram in bar then give baby away as spot prize (pram optional)... this then leaves you both free to get back into running / adventure racing etc.

In light of this don't forget your torches for tonight's run.2) There will however be scrummy cakes made by my own fare hand so eat at your own peril.3) Kevin Hudson will be limited to a maximum of 10 cakes only.4) The only core stability problems I have are when I've had 5 pints of lager and I fall over (see Kira's note below).END OF PUBLIC NOTICE

For all those who know that their core stability is not up to scratch why not come along to an abs and back session held at Wyvern Sports Centre every Wed 7pm with Tim Pollard. Is only for half an hour as the core stability stuff is pretty intense so you can still fit in the wed swim ironmen or a run after. 2 a session you know it makes sense to prevent those injuries that in the end are all down to the strength of your core!! Will be there next week will you?

Only 116 days to go to this years big club event!!. Please make sure the 17th December is now well and truly recorded in your diary. A great excuse to avoid shopping, family parties, visiting relatives and all that other boring stuff Xmas brings and instead enjoy yourselves with your fellow club members by helping and supporting the 2006 Wyvern Christmas Cracker!! Your club needs you on that day to help marshal the biggest race in our calendar. We expect to get 1600 runners so we need your help. We have a wide range of jobs that need doing so if you are an early starter (05.30 a.m.!!) and can withstand sub zero temperatures in the back of a pick up truck or great at shoving 1600 runners through a small college rear door then you are just what we need. Don't miss this great opportunity to support your club.!! Get your preferred place sorted now by phoning me on 07979 562874.

Hash, Saturday 29th July, run and BBQ.For new members, the run is on footpaths in East Brent, the trail is laid with flour for you to follow with some false trails (thats for the fast boys to check out) there are 2 or 3 regrouping points so the everyone is kept together. The run is about 6 miles and takes about 75-90 minutes then there is the BBQ,drinks and socialising.Bring some warm clothing as it can get chilly once the suns gone down. This is for members and partners, if you don't want to run then there is a walk or you can enjoy a drink while the others are out. The address is Applegate House, Ash Trees, East Brent, TA9 4DQ, Tel 01278 760346, the run stars at 7:00pm promt.Directions - A370 from W-S-M turn rt at traffic lights in East Brent, past the Butcher, 1st left after 200m thats Ash Trees and we are at the end of the road.

Guys and Girls Ramsey and hugh fearnley are definitely the best. Being food teacher for over 5 years and knowing forwell that jamie is good but tends to chuck it all together or wack it in the oven. we are all guilty of that but gordon is a perfectionist and there is nothing wrong with that. I will say one thing to add to sterotypical image portrayed about food lovers, teachers and chefs. I love food am a size 8 go the gym four times a week and love food and I know that food is key to man's heart hence why I am married to a charming man. Keep eating and training.

Two things....FIRST - well done Roger for the Batch...excellent turn out and, as always, a well organised race. I think England may struggle to get as many supporters as you had runners for the next match if they don’t improve. SECOND - Poor Barry - glad to hear you escaped a really bad accident as motorbike ones go but have to say it sounds bad enough to me. Small conciliation I know but we now have something in common. I too clipped a curb whilst on my bike, sadly I was carrying a Kebab in one hand and in a brave attempt to save it fell off and broke my arm and little finger. Luckily I didn’t need a long stay in hospital but did get a serious ear bashing from the Mrs. Hope you have a speedy recovery and I trust the accident wasn’t due to you going off to fast as usual!!

Hi guys and girls, I'm afraid I have bad news Barry Hall won't be running with you for a few months as he had a motorbike accident on Sunday. He clipped a curb and hit a wall in Somerton, he has broken his left arm and leg (relief) it could have been much worse if he hadn't been wearing his full leathers and boots! He is in Yeovil hospital ward 6b until the weekend when we hope he might be transferred back to Weston but there's no guarantee it might even be next week! He had a five hour op on his leg Sunday and they are waiting for the swelling to go down to reconstruct some bones in his foot. But apart from that you know Barry alls fine and dandy and he's planning which bike he's having next. I don't think he will be doing the London marathon next year unless he enters the wheel chair race! All the best Nicky Hall

Following my messages of 17th March and 26th April I haven't had any further response. The relay takes place on Sat 24th June. There are 10 stages so we need a minimum of 10 runners. Distances of stages vary from 8 to 12 miles, mainly off road. The club will pay the entry fee. As I'll be at a family wedding that day someone else will need to co-ordinate this. So far the following have expressed an interest in running: Nick & Kira, Ruth & Jim, Malcolm, Bryan Morley, Simon Moth and possibly Rob, Kenny, Dave C. Lots more details from www.cityofbathac.org Please let me know who else is interested (any ability, male or female), plus it is essential to have a volunteer to co-ordinate everything. Thanks, Gerry

Wow what a surprise founder monday nighters going out on a monday. I hear Mike Potter has been cured of a bad case of Mondaynitus (symptons , lack of energy, excessive weight gain, inability to type) glad to hear Mike is making a full recovery. As for founder members who still seem to be suffering maybe Phil the bird , or Paul Snelling could do us all a favour and put them out of there misery.

Following my message of 17th March I mentioned this event again after last night's AGM. The relay takes place on Sat 24th June. There are 10 stages so we need a minimum of 10 runners. Distances of stages vary from 8 to 12 miles, mainly off road. The club will pay the entry fee. I've just realised that I'll be at a family wedding that day, so someone else will need to co-ordinate this now (sorry!). So far the following have expressed an interest in running: Nick & Kira, Ruth & Jim, Malcolm, Bryan Morley, Simon Moth and possibly Rob, Kenny, Dave C. Lots more details from www.cityofbathac.org Please let me know who else is interested (any ability, male or female), plus a volunteer to co-ordinate. Thanks, Gerry

NOT the kettle. into the cot a few minutes before you put your baby in. it takes the chill off and stops her waking up when you take her away from your chest.for gripe, try INFACOL, usable from birth. and for cradle cap, use refined olive oil. both are available from the pharmacy at boots.Good luck mate. remember don't be afraid to ask for help and advice. but remember she's YOUR baby.

The Augrabies Extreme is a self-sufficiency stage race held in the Northern Cape area of South Africa. It is divided into six stages, which run from bivouac site to bivouac site, where the competitors rest before the following day’s stage. The race is based on the popular Marathon des Sables which is held annually in Morocco. The organisers provide water, tents and medical support. The rest is up to the competitor.Augrabies Extreme 2006This year the Augrabies will take place from October 5th – 15th. Cost is from 1000 to 1300 depending on the package you choose. This is purely for the race and accomodation before the race. You will need to get yourself to South Africa and to Augrabies Falls National Park, depending on the package you choose, where the race begins. How Tough is it?Very. In temperatures up to 40c competitors are faced with running with a fully loaded pack containing everything they will need for the week. The combination of the weight of the pack and the heat will increase the chances of blisters, chafing and muscle strains. xxThere is likely to be a high drop-out rate.

RACE FOR LIFE. Weston Beach Sun 7th May The organisers of this increasingly popular 5k event have approached Weston A/C for support. They are looking for enough Marshall's to make sure all the ladies know which way to run on the beach. Unfortunately I am away on hols at the time so we really would like a club member to take responsibility for getting and organising the helpers on the day. Not sure at this stage how many are required but the more there are the better it will be.A great opportunity to support this very worthwhile event and at the same time promote Weston A/C. Dear friendsWhat about a beautiful marathon in Prague in the Czech Republic on the 14th of May 2007? You’ll find everything you need on the official website www.pim.cz and in the case you would like to get known more from the country and from its life, just get to my website www.czechyourway.com and I’ll be glad to help you to organize your stay here. Just do not count with me on the Day D. I will go for 42,185 km in 4 hours  . Did I forget to say what I offer and the official agencies do not? It is easy.Program tailored to your needs the way you specify them and that all with a personal and friendly approach of a man who runs and travels himself.Best regards from the Heart of Europe and if interested just get in touch. Tell me how you like your holidays (accommodation, interests, hobbies, tours, professional interests, …) and I will tell you what I can do for you.
