A fine 3:13 marathon from Phil Richards to help BAD Tri take 1st mixed relay team at Challenge Barcelona ironman distance triathlon today.
had brilliant run at Burnham,12min faster than i predicted, couldn't have done it without the support and encouragement i've had from everyone at the club, many many thanks for that.See you at training
I have had a great run at the Burnham Half, PB from 2hrs 19secs in bristol down to 1hr 48mins 39sec today, plus I got into The London Marathon for the first time. The training has worked wonders. Thanks
Kira,
You know your fit enough to get around and so what if the time is not going to be what you were used to pre babies! At least it will give you an indication of where your fitness is now.
I think you should run!
PS well done to all those that had pbs today in Burnham & Oldbury.
****SOCIAL RUNS **** President's Breakfast Run Saturday, 17 October 2009 8:30 start.

Some of you may be off to Exmoor on the Sunday, but for everyone else this is a good off-road event to suit all abilities. Put it in your diary NOW and let me know if you are coming ( I need to know how much eggs/bacon/sausage is needed )
There are good changing/shower facilities at Barton and a fantastic breakfast. ( Any veggies or special diets can be catered for if you let me know 07793715396)
Please put you name on the runners list online, or add it to the list on Hutton Moor notice board.
Thanks
Dave
Thanks Chris, Paul and Fran, for your offers for Xmas Cracker help. All duly noted and I will speak with you individually about roles for the day.

Will be doing another K9 baiting session on Sunday 8:30am from the Swan if anyone's interested. (you never know it might help you Win-a-lot of races)
Thursday 24 September 2009
Bad luck for Wiggo today, good highlights on BBC cycling website though
Wednesday 23 September 2009
Chris,
Training from Hutton Moor Thursday 24th at 19:00
Rumoured to be the hills route
Hi Dave,
I would also please like a jacket if you enough going spare.
Can anyone kindy confirm if the Winter Training sessions are starting tomorrow evening?
Tuesday 22 September 2009
Hi Dave, I would quite like a jacket if there's one going spare. I'll be down all next week if it's ok to get one off you then? Many thanks
Autumn conditions for runners--------- I still have 10 JACKETS seeking a home other than my garage. I'm sure the run to the beach needs a wind proof jacket and will keep you warm on the way back!!Tel;414361
Ladies---------- I have some T's still
Men ----------ALSO got a few T's (small going on medium)
Reminder for the Cracker Committee.
Don't forget tonight's Cracker Committee meeting will be held at Hutton Moor at 8.30pm.
I don't think the mendips are quite ready to see Victor biting anyones ass. (Note to self; stay well away from the Mendips on a Sunday morning).
Monday 21 September 2009
Pete, are you saying that it is Victors turn to bite your arse next?
Sunday mendip outings take an unexpected turn!!!!
With the return to the beach on Tuesday, does this mean the Thursday evening sessions (hills etc.) will be starting up again soon?
Andy,
I recently got bit on the arse by a dog too, somewhere in the Mendips.... It's Victor's turn next. A good advert to invite other WAC runners on our lovely Mendip jaunts.
Sunday 20 September 2009
Andy sorry to hear about your mishap, but it might sharpen you up for next prom race. Hope to get back on Mendips
soon. See you thursday.

Gareth Weaver 4:33:43, chip time 4:22:06
Well done Gareth.
Pete, Victor. Missed you this morning. If you had been running then maybe the black Lab that bit me on the ass at Charterhouse might gone for one of you two insetad !!
Friday 18 September 2009
Well done Sarah. Another PB at the prom last night. Over 2 minutes off your previous PB. All those long runs and hard work are starting to pay off. You must be the hot contender for most improved female runner this year.
Thanks to everyone for helping out last night. The course was certainly more challenging than normal, but I'm sure it helped with more marshal's and of course our hairy cheerleaders down at the Tropicana. I'll put up next month's volunteer list nearer to the date. If anybody is not running it really helps if you can marshal/help in the Pavillion bar to free up people who do want to run.
p.s. Don't forget to volunteer for the Cracker, we've still got lots of slots to fill.
Congratulations to all the Prom Run Team for their planning, preperation and delivery of the prom run last night. It takes a lot of hard work and determination to get an event like that to run smoothly, so well done to you all. Also, a big thank you to all the marshal's out on the course. It was a difficult task with all the obstacles, pedestrians and cyclist, so well done.
Victor - just checking that you found your black Weston AC top and jacket after last night. Hope all the effort put in to your race was rewarded by the excellent spot prize...
A Big well done to Lesley, Malcolm and every one who helped out last night. I nearly enjoyed myself. Andy i won't be out sunday.
Yes, as of Tuesday the Tuesday night training will be on the Beach. We will meet at Hutton Moor at 19:00 in the Bar area and then run down to the beach.
Please can someone advise if Tuesday night training has moved back down to the beach yet? After my pathetic effort last night it would appear I need to up my training again :o(
Thanks for letting me know Pete. I'm still going out, 8:30am if anyone's interested.
A big thank you to all the marshals and the organiser on the Prom last evening. You did a great job protecting us from the obstacles and separating us from the masses.
Thursday 17 September 2009
I'm thinking of doing a trial run of the Burnham half route on Sunday. Anyone interested?
Andy D,
I told you I'd be running from the Swan this Sunday - I lied. Forgot I'm off up Snowdon instead (not running up it). Sorry, I think Victor might be up for it though. Cheers.
Can I just remind everybody that marshal's are meeting by the finish area at 7pm to collect bibs and to find out where you will be standing. The course is tricky tonight due to the prom works, so we need 'all hands on deck'. Any extra volunteer marshals are very welcome. A full volunteer list is available on the welcome page (a few days ago). I will be in the Pavillion tonight by the door if anybody is not sure of their role. See you all later.
Good luck Gareth Weaver, enjoy it, we'll all be thinking of you. Can't wait to hear all about it.
Wednesday 16 September 2009
Nice photo of Sean McHenry on the Weston Mercury website, look under RNLI big swim - I know Victor like's a man in rubber !
Just to dispel any query the Burnham half is NOT full and still has many places left. The organisers would welcome as many entries as possible from WAC and would ask that they be sent early please.
Sunday 13 September 2009
On a day for PB's looks like there was a great one for Brian in the Nottingham marathon. Chip time 3.16.21 117th out of 1325. Well done to Dave Cowell who finished in 3:45:47
Grrrr! I'll demand a stewards enquiry! ;o)
Dave no problem.
The results are up on their website already. I see that I pipped you to the club point by 1 second on chip time
Great new PB by Dave Stock in 1:22:49 29th place)sorry none of us saw you Dave.
Thanks Jim W for your encouragement today, i've still got a grin on my face ;o)
Friday 11 September 2009
Oi Rob .... there were nowt wrong with them there cakes!! There were gert lush.
Cracking end to the summer pub runs last night.... great run and well shall we just say cakes!..... no great cakes too...
Pip
Will text you my number then we'll go from there. Mondays are good for me.
Good luck on Sunday.
Thursday 10 September 2009
I am planning a jaunt over the mendips on Sunday morning if anyone's interested. 8:30 at the Swan.
Liz,
Tried to put my e.mail on message but wasn't logged in, will try again, but phone might be better, 07780547489.
Liz,
Will hopefully be at the Manor tonight and am probably doing Chippenham half on Sunday. I'm working weekends but have the next 3 Mondays off so aim to do long runs in the mornings, would be nice to go to Rowberrow for 3hr run sometime too.
Me thinks it might be for the best not to make reference to 'my delights'!!
Pip,
Are you getting any long and grizzly runs in over the next week or so? Can probably fit in timewise with you. Am getting bored with my own company! (Cue jokes).
Wednesday 09 September 2009
I would rather serve up home made disaster than cheat like Victor!
My shorbread is actually ok, my victoria sponge is no longer in the form of a sandwhich as only one layer successfully made it out of the tin and my marmalade squares are slightly undercooked due to Victor needing the oven to cook his tea!!!
Not to worry though claudines delights are going to be great.
Good job it's going to be dark so we can't see it....especially if Geri follows your example and leaves the M&S wrapper marks on the cake !
Domestic harmony has been shattered, her indoors busy preparing cakes for tomorrow night. Things seem to have gone wrong judging by the number of expletives that i have heard whilst cowering in the garage. Victoria sandwich is no more, marmalade cake is
not cooked and the ******g shortbread is burnt. Only the very brave or foolhardy should attend the social..

Victor/anyone,
Planning on running from Swan 8.30 Sunday. I'll only do about 10 miles, but if anyone wants to go further then we can split at the trig or similar. Cool.
Rich Court,
If you're still up for running with me on the monday before the Prom race as a 'tune-up' session, that's next monday, I'll be at hutton moor 7pm with the usual crowd. We can warm up with them then go off doing short reps along the prom. Well done with your Bristol result. Nice.
Sunday 06 September 2009
Pip
Not to forget your 1.28.50, well done
Sarah and Annette.
So pleased to see that you both had PB's. Sarah you even got the 1.47 I proposed, well done!
Brian/Matt I am not in the results for WAC. My number was 11540 chip time 1.36.55 I was down as no club
my e-mail sean.mchenry@hotmail.co.uk
No spam Vistor please............
Next weeks Chippenham Half, I will not be running so have a number available free to anyone. It clashes with the re-arranged Lifeboat swim from Burnham to Weston I am doing that it will be easier.
E-mail me or speak to me at Tuesdays session
Friday 04 September 2009
Does anyone need/want a Bristol half place?
No problem Claudine, i have plenty of pictures of Neales marrow!
Could think of beter pictures though!
Victor; not too interested in reading the article but would love a signed photo of you with the marrow!!
Jim:
Thanks, will see if I can get on site to enter later, (still thinking about SLAMM too)
Thursday 03 September 2009
Pip
I have just entered Chippenham and the site now says only 100 places left.
Rich i did make it into the Brent knoll parish mag . I won the guess the weight of the marrow competition. I Have a couple of copies if anyone would like a signed copy.
Make sure you purchase a copy of 220 magazine for October ( or simply read it in WH Smith ! ). Article featuring Kit Stokes as a leading age group athlete competing at the Hawaii Ironman World Championships complete with a nice selection of colour photos. I've read the proof and unfortunately there is no mention of Victor ?
Wednesday 02 September 2009
Thanks a lot Mike, I'll make a note.
for Leslie Cowell,
I will now be available to help with sept. prom run if needed, as well as any you have tagged me for.
Monday 31 August 2009
**** THURSDAY SOCIAL RUN **** THE CROWN INN, CHURCHILL
This weeks social is from the CROWN INN at Churchill (Just up the side road by the Nelsons Arms). I will be leading the run, as the Haywards are suffering from Man Flu and injuries, but following their planned route.
Can I ask that you are all ready for a PROMPT 7PM START as light is fading and fast and we have a steady, undulating, off road, 6m run to cover. A Head-torch or lightweight torch may be useful especially for inspecting the cakes?!
See you there.
Dave

PS. The run should be not too challenging for those running a HM at the weekend.
Matt
have you the christmas cracker lap top please?

Saturday 29 August 2009
One night i will stay for the cakes!!
i see all these messages about how great they are but never get to try them!!
Phil T
Probably wont be at the Walnut tomorrow as I might go to Langport.
They still have entries on the day
I am holding volunteer lists for 9 PROM RUNS, THE CRACKER, THE MENDIP MUDDLE AND THE HANGOVER.
PROM: We need 20 volunteers for each prom run. Some of the roles will enable you to also run the race. Some of the roles will need to be carried out during the race. We would like everyone in the club to volunteer to help on at least one race in the season. Anybody who is aiming to get a certificate by completing all the races will be awarded if they complete 8 races and act as a volunteer for a 9th race.We would like regular Prom Run helpers to also come forward, so that we know you are still available.
Cracker: This years Cracker is on 13th December. As in previous years, no members of the club are allowed to enter the race due to the numbers of volunteers required. Please could you let me know how you would like to volunteer, before, during, after, all day? I have also got last years list, so if you would like the same role as last year let me know. Any new members, just shout and I'll let you know the roles that need to be fulfilled on the day. (Be aware we only need 15 strippers and I have names on the list already, so be quick!!!)
Muddle: Bryan has been canvassing for volunteers for a few weeks, if anybody would still like to volunteer, you can let me know when responding for the above and I'll let Bryan know.
Hangover: Jim Wotton has started to look for help, if anybody would like to volunteer, you can let me know when responding for the above and I'll pass on your details direct to Jim.
Thank you very much for your support. This is a very busy time of year for our club races, your support is needed and very much appreciated. It is always easier if people come forward as it saves chasing around nearer to the race day.
Thank you
Friday 28 August 2009
Oh I dont know...Neale was there!
excellent run and fab grub, not a vegetable in sight, just how i like it!
I would like to thank the Morgan/Salter cafe for feeding my family of 4 last night. What a great idea, certainly made life easier when we got home. Really enjoyed the run aswell, even though it did involve hills, tunnels, wasps and nails! How did you find that one Malcolm?
Thursday 27 August 2009
I've watched Floyd, the Hairy bikers ,two fat ladies ,Jamie Oliver ,Masterchef but have not had or seen better tucker than on tonights social. Well done Mars and Bob trophy is all yours. Great run as well Malcolm, shame about the hill though.
Mars... you didnt let me know if it was plain or self raising.... I't gone horribly wrong...Hope youve made plenty coz mines a mess..
Rob i will be bringing a knife a LARGE sharp one not for cutting cakes though. Watch your back.
Mars.... do you need a knife to cut your cakes, I could bring one with the plates if needs be?
Now, now boys .... play nicely!!
Victor... Not fork off, I said fork or spoon!!
Fork off cup cakes....
Hi Mars.... Think I got the gist of your message but a little hard as I think in some places you went into Polish or something. Ever since you confided in me that you didn't really have any friends I agreed that I would be you friend so don't try and kid me that you have anyone else to help you out, by the way that time I nearly knocked you off your bike was a genuine accident and nothing to do with the general abuse you give me. Anyway great news, we have plates, napkins and people are bringing their own forks/spoons.... so come on woman get baking......
Rob, i rather write on the message board rather than by e-mail as i might say something rude. i love my time cooking in the kitchen thats not the problem, i thought you were a freiend and friends normaly help out when there is a problem. so i will bring the napkins then. deal or no dealor do i need to contact a resl friend who can multi task and bake cakes.love from a friend in need. lets say no more about ok.
REMINDER - All those running tonight dont forget to bring a fork... or a spoon!!!!
Wednesday 26 August 2009
Rob - do you really need to mention plates & trumping in the same sentence?
Marcella... sorry but I already trumped you on the plates... also Neale told me that it's a womans place to do the cooking so ball back in your court!!
Feel free to drop me an e-mail and we can chat in private...
